How the Cone Technology Works

The Multiform Harvest struvite recovery technology consists of a tall cone containing a fluidized bed reactor.

Wastewater is pumped up through the base of the cone and the high levels of phosphorus and nitrogen quickly crystallize and form pellets of struvite (Magnesium Ammonium Phosphate hexa-hydrate - MgNH4PO4.6H20).

The levels of dissolved phosphorus and nitrogen are quickly reduced as the wastewater moves up through the cone. Phosphorus levels in the effluent leaving the top of the cone are reduced by over 80%. Ammonia levels are reduced by up to 20%.

This represents a significant reduction in the nutrient load being recycled to the headworks of the plant, and can considerably lessen the buildup of struvite in pipes, pumps, and other expensive equipment.
